Does your company work with metals? If you do, and if Beryllium is one of them, you’ll want to be aware of a new OSHA standard being enforced soon.
Beryllium is a metal that is much stronger than steel but lighter than aluminum. Due to it’s characteristics and advantages, it is quite the super metal. However, Beryllium is also very toxic. Workers can be exposed to it by inhaling particle dust or through physical contact, which can cause several serious health issues.
OSHA’s new standard on permissible exposure limits goes into effect on May 11, 2018 (an extension from the original date of March 12.) For more information on Beryllium and the new OSHA guidelines, here is an article from Click Safety.
