In a recent post we shared some fundamentals that can optimize construction contract negotiations. The suggestions came from a book “Getting to Yes”, by Roger Fisher and William Ury.
Continuing on that theme, a common point of contention in many construction projects is change orders.
Best practices from legal and various contractors suggest explicitly stating the change order process in every contract, and noting it’s best to nail it down in a contract revision. This alone could help avoid a dispute down the road.
