Running a business of any kind comes with a wide range of highs and lows.
Given today’s job market, one of the most challenging “lows” is maintaining staffing levels. It seems that there has been a shift in expectations on the part of job seekers, and some industries have fared better than others.
For example, according to Associated Builders and Contractors, the construction industry needs to hire an additional 501,000 workers in 2024 to meet labor demands. Finding qualified people to fill these vacancies will be a tall order at best!
Further, in a recent survey:
- 89% of construction firms reported challenges in filling job vacancies
- 61% experienced project delays attributed to labor shortages
